It is Better to Travel Abroad to Learn English but that does not Necessarily mean Within an English Speaking Country

English is the third most spoken language in the world. It is one of the most useful and widely spoken languages worldwide and is even taught as a second language in many school curricula. What better way to brush up on your English skills than while traveling?

Many countries offer a unique language and cultural experience. You can Learn English abroad while satisfying the travel bug in you. Better still, you can even learn English in countries whose mother tongue is something other than English.

You can learn English in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and Ireland. By traveling to any of these countries you will be immersed in the language because you will be surrounded by it. Going out for dinner, buying groceries, walking in the park or taking transit - everyone will communicate with you in English. There will be no subtitles on the television, nor translated signs. You will have to order food and give the taxi driver directions in English. This forces you to learn at an accelerated rate.

Granted, every country will have different annunciations and some may be difficult to understand - but the basic words will be the same. For example, if you are eating "chips", this will be a different product in Canada versus England. These subtle differences do not create significant barriers.

Commonwealth countries all use UK English, whereas non-Commonwealth countries speak American English. The spellings of the two versions differ only slightly. Thus, the English language allows you to travel to many countries and be relatively comfortable.

Learning English does not even need to occur in an English-speaking country. For example, there are English schools in the Philippines. These do not necessarily give you as much practice with your new language, but it certainly opens up your travel options.

Traveling abroad is an experience that most of us can only dream of. Many say that traveling was the most memorable experience of their lives. If you have to opportunity to travel while learning English, you have many countries to choose from. You can literally experience dozens of countries and communicate easily with all of the residents within them.
